Since 1988 the Beilstein-Institut has organized and supported scientific exchange between researchers by regularly held symposia.
The Beilstein Enzymology Symposia deal with enzymes, which play an essential role for all processes of life. Reliable and comparable enzyme data are required for the elucidation of metabolism processes for example. The Beilstein ESCEC symposia are the forum for discussing standards for measuring and publication of such experimental data.

Since October 2009 the Beilstein Glyco-Bioinformatics Symposium has taken place every two years. The aim of this symposium is to establish a network of experts in glycochemistry, biology, bioinformatics and computer sciences.
