Long tradition: Since 1988, the Beilstein Bozen Symposia have addressed many different themes. In recent times the focus has been on selected interdisciplinary aspects of chemistry and biology.

Reliable and comparable enzyme data are required for the elucidation of metabolism processes for example. The Beilstein ESCEC symposia are the forum for discussing standards for measuring and publication of such experimental data.

Since October 2009 the Beilstein Glyco-Bioinformatics Symposium has taken place every two years. The aim of this symposium is to establish a network of experts in glycochemistry, biology, bioinformatics and computer sciences.
