Bernhard V. K. J. Schmidt completed his PhD in 2013 with Professor Barner-Kowollik at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a PostDoc with Professor Hawker at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Afterwards he joined the department of Professor Antonietti at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces as a Group Leader. In 2019, he was appointed as Lecturer in Synthetic Polymer Chemistry at the University of Glasgow. His research focusses on polymers in aqueous environment, block copolymer self-assembly, metal-organic framework/polymer hybrids and carbon nitride/polymer hybrid materials. Over the past years he received the Dr. Hermann Schnell Award and the Polymers Young Investigator Award. He serves as an associate editor for the Journal "Polymers" and is editor of the thematic issue "Polymer chemistry: fundamentals and applications" in the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry.
