Overview

The Beilstein-Institut is pleased to invite early career research group leaders to an event designed to help them advance their careers and leadership competencies by gaining a better understanding of the power of communication, developing relevant skills, and acquiring practical knowledge for the future, particularly with regard to:

/ leadership,

/ leading diverse teams, including the ability to communicate across cultures and disciplines, and

/ managing conflicts in an academic setting.

This event consists of a lecture and a workshop which will be led by Dr. Silvie Klein-Franke.

The lecture on Thursday is accessible for all participants of the Beilstein Symposium and will be followed by a Q&A session. During this part, the lecturer will show how the execution of proper knowledge and soft skills can help research group leaders at any career stage to make their job less stressful and more productive.

The full day workshop on Friday is limited to 15 participants and is specifically designed for:

/ junior/assistant professors

/ junior researchers

/ lecturers

/ scientists at an equivalent career stage.

These eligibility criteria allow the lecturer to tailor the workshop to those in the early stages of their research group formation where management and leadership skills are developed. Moreover, the participants of the workshop will have an opportunity to share their own biggest challenges with the trainer before the event, enabling them to find solutions to the problems encountered in real life situations.
