This Beilstein Nanotechnology Symposium offers an interdisciplinary forum for exploring recent advances in the structure and properties of interfaces in ultrafine-grained and nanocrystalline materials. As for Beilstein Symposia in general, focus is on exchange and discussion amongst the speakers and the audience in a plenary-session environment. In addition to the invited talks, a session with contributed posters shall also be organized. Primary focus will be on the importance of interfaces and their properties in shaping material behavior, including phenomena such as segregation, complexion formation, precipitation, phase transition, etc., and their implications for material properties. Key topics cover the role of interfaces in the development of novel materials for energy and high-performance structural applications. We shall also discuss how interface engineering delivers innovative solutions across diverse technological fields, including aspects of sustainability and energy efficiency. The symposium will feature both experimental and
