Symposia of the Beilstein-Institut
Meetings aid the transfer of knowledge and communication between researchers. The Beilstein-Institut organizes and supports such endeavours.
Since 1988, the Beilstein Bozen Symposia have addressed many different themes. In recent times the focus has been in selected interdisciplinary aspects of chemistry and biology. It is planned to continue along this path in the future.
The ESCEC Symposia deal with enzymes, which play an essential role for all processes of life. For the elucidation of metabolism processes reliable and comparable enzyme data are required. The ESCEC symposia are the forum for discussing standards for measuring and publication of such experimental data.
In October 2009 a new symposium covering the modern topic of glyco-bioinformatics was held. The aim of this symposium was the establishment of a network of glycochemists and biologists along with experts in bioinformatics and computer sciences.
