Katalyse Thema

catalysis

Catalysts speed up chemical reactions without being consumed themselves. They often contain noble metals as active centers, but also purely organic compounds are used. Well-known examples are the catalytic converters in automobiles for the reduction of emissions and fuel cells for the reaction of hydrogen with oxygen to form water, thereby supplying power. Catalysts are of great technical importance because they significantly reduce the use of energy.
